1st or 2nd gear after a rolling stop?
Which gear do you guys engage in pulling out of a rolling stop (i.e. stop sign) I used to shift to 1st (if it doesn't go in I wait till it goes in ) but I read from somewhere that suggests not to shift to 1st while moving. btw.. i'll define rolling stop as something like.. slowing down until <5mph.

You can put it into first gear if you like, just make sure to rev match the engine to the car's speed so it doesnt jerk like crazy. With that said, I use second gear 99% of the time when doing a rolling stop.

In chicago neighborhoods, I pretty much never use 1st gear. I just roll through the stop signs in 2nd. It struggles to get going a little bit but it's much easier than downshifting to 1st then shifting back to 2nd right away. I say right away because I find the roads to be too bumpy to smoothly use 1st. If I hit a pothole, the car will start bucking from the slight movement in my foot when in 1st
