Me being a spray painter with my own shop here in Brisbane has some advantages, so with a load of massive stone chips that I picked up on the way back from Sydney it was time for a freshen up of the front bumper.
Also I decided to give the wiper arms, and the grills/mesh from the bonnet and bumper a repaint in industrial satin black so it lasts.
Finally got my private plates on which make it looks heaps cleaner, legally we can have smaller plates in here in Queensland, I think there about 290mm x 100mm
Fitted the freshly painted bumper with all the black mesh, bonnet mesh and wiper arms and shes looking fresh
Took the car on track at the weekend, brought back some good memories on how good the evo is to drive on a track. But braking from 230kph to 40kph did end up cooking the brakes 😂
So I got some new hel braided hoses, Pagid RS29 pads, updated discs, Castrol SRF Fluid & some binary brake ducts and ducting
I decided to give the calipers a rebuild with new seals/dust seals and a fresh coat of paint in Silver as the faded red was looking ugly.
Also got some MCA coilovers, there a reputable brand over here in Aus, although there only temporary until I get my Nitron R1coilovers from the UK in December.

I’m going to do a time attack event next month so needed to buy the proper racing gear. I used an Arai Helmet and Alpinestars gear on my race bike, it’s awesome stuff so seemed logical to get the same stuff for the car.
Also bought a Sparco Rev QRT seat and a Sparco 6 Point harness, got that installed as well.
Took the car on track the other day, it was the first time since it was stock and the difference was night and day.
Even though it’s only stock power at 275bhp it embarrassed a lot of faster cars lol
Brakes and suspension were awesome. The tyres let me down a little, although the wear was perfect after about 3 laps they started to go off and loose grip, but it does get pretty hot here over in Aus.
I decided to get another set of wheels as I do drive the evo to work once a week and sometimes I go for a Sunday drive and the oem wheels looked lost in the arches especially with the camber I run so I got another set of TC105X rims in the same 17x9+25 spec.
I’ve decided to keep the AO52’s on the street set and for the track set I opted for some Hankook Z221 semi slick tyres in 255/40/17, there pretty popular over here and with the hankook motorsport shop being only 10 minutes down the road it seemed like a good idea to give them a go.
The Hankook did run slightly bigger than the Yokohama so I test fitted one first and then jacked the wheel up for it to sit inside the arch and it just fits without rubbing (I have got the rear arches rolled)
Went to the track again yesterday, the hankook semi slicks are incredible. I went 2.4 seconds faster with them, and my fastest times were coming at the end of the session instead of right at the beginning. Grip was solid and was there for the whole session and didn’t drop off once.
After the track day and the grip with the tyres I thought it’s best to get ahead of the oil surge problems known to the evo and especially on right hand high g corners.
I purchased a Kiggley HLA for the head and a Tomei scraper.
Ive also just ordered an Inifnite Evo sump from New Zealand which should help prevent any future oil surge issues, I’ll fit the tomie scraper along with this when it rocks up.
Got my coolant overflow, power steering and oil catch tank from Spec-r performance today, brushed aluminium with sight tubes on the side. I was supposed to get them when I popped over to the uk but they weren't ready in time so I was running a temp one from eBay in the mean time.
Didn't take long to get them filted and they finish off the engine bay nicely.
