Evo bike riders!
Well I decided I am going to pick up a bike in the mean time while I search for the perfect evo. I want a sports bike.. GSXR, R1, R6.. (only bike names I know LOL)..ect. It is going to be my first bike, so I dont want to spend over 4-5k on it. I dont mind if its used, as long as it looks good. So my question is, which bike should I go for, and what year, to match the price (or lower) that I want to spend.
While I was cruising in this nice *** wheather today, I saw dozens of bike riders, and there could be nothing better than cruising in this wonderful wheather!

If this is your first bike, I would highly recommend you take the MSF course and NOT get a liter bike (R1, GSXR 1000 etc...) Start off with something used - because it's not IF you drop it - it's when...
Get a 250 or even a 600 cc bike to get comfortable with.
Take the MSF course and only ride it for the first few months for recreation. Don't use it as your primary transportation. This will ensure you have plenty of time to detour as you learn how to ride the bike, plenty of time where you don't have to speed to get to work etc....
Don't ride outside your experience. I have owned 3 bikes so far.
Kawasaki EX500
Yamaha R1
GSXR 1000
I consider myself a pretty good rider, but always remember - the cars are out for you - never ride in their blind spots, because its not IF they cut you off, it's when and you want to be able to react in a split second.

If its your first bike then you should pick up a beater and learn how to ride first. Getting something like a GSX or YZF r1 as a first bike is not recommended as they are more difficult to handle and have too much power for new riders.

well with your size you should be fine on the gixxer7 but if you buying a bike local just look for something that your going to be comfortable in, like i was saying if you get a 250cc bike you minus well get a moped lol gixxer's are true sport bikes and very fun to ride!!!!

I forgot to mention that I have rode bikes since I was 15, but I have just not owned one. I have tooken the MsF course already, and am signed up to take an advanced type class.

I agree on getting a used bike first and taking the MSF class. I did that and everything worked out for me. I started on a 2000 ZX7R now I ride an 06 R1. Im actually in my hotel room in myrtle beach for bike week. lol

A GSXR-750 is a great bike, small frame bigger bore engine than the 600 - We have one guy here who can take a busa from a roll with his - quite a decent list of mods but he pulls on busa's
The whole power/weight thing - he has them beat weight wise.
Yes get a Suzuki, theres a reason why they won each and every single AMA Superbike last year (Ben Spies and Matt Mladin)

Well riding on the street is a lot different than on dirt, im sure you know that...
but you can probable handle a 600 or a 750 and Suzuki is the only one making a 750cc'd bike. And you dont have to get a crotch rocket either. Their are plenty of badass naked bikes out there too...
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation course is good though. I lost interest in the first day and was constantly being told to slow down, but the instructors didnt mind the sparks from the pedal scrapping. You do learn about looking through the turn and rider basics.
The best advice though is to ALWAYS WEAR ALL YOUR GEAR no matter what...!

I just got my bike about two weeks ago. I am also a noob on a bike.
Do yourself a favor, don't get an R1! Thats too much power for just starting to ride. I personally like Yamaha, so i'd say get an R6!
