05 GSR non-SSL halogen -> OEM HIDs

Reviving a thread from the dead....
Alright, so I am going to bump a 20 year old thread.
After 20 years has anyone melted their wiring harness wiring up HIDs this way., i.e, just adding 20 amp fuses and rerouting wires...lol?
I am considering doing it this way, but I worry the non-HID wiring is undersized for the amperage of the HID ballasts on startup and just adding 20 amp fuses may be insufficient. I would really like to use a non aftermarket ballast, nor would I want to cut up my existing harness. The other alternative that is available is replacing the entire front harness & fuse box, but this seems like a lot of work. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I do not need the levelers and the fogs to work.
If someone has a recommendation other than this, I would appreciate it.
